n e w s l e t t e r April 2011

Dear Member,

As the International Meeting Season is approaching I am writing the spring newsletter 2011 in order to inform about the activities of our society.

At  the  2010  General  Assembly  in  Tampere,  Finland,  a  new  board  was  elected.  As  an international European society, the ESJV board is represented by President Professor Johann MOTSCH, Heidelberg University, Germany; Vice-President Gerhard BAER, MD Tampere, Finland, and Treasurer Robert LEITER  MD. Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden. These well known and experienced members of the former board started their work and activities for the term 2011-2012.

Although our society, ESJV, is faced with the challenge how to keep the idea and the mission of a Specialist  Member Society alive, “Jet Ventilation” is still an important and a valuable technique for intensivists and anaesthesiologists. This can easily be verified by performing a Medline search on “jet ventilation” and “high  pressure source ventilation”, showing 107 articles recently published on this topic during the last two years.

As major event for this year an extraordinary General Assembly will take place as platform to discuss the future of the European Society for Jet Ventilation. To give all ESJV members and all in jet ventilation interested the  opportunity to participate at the extraordinary General Assembly 2011, this meeting of ESJV will take  place  in conjunction with the ESA 2011 meeting in Amsterdam. The ESJV board strongly encourage you  to  attend this important meeting on Sunday, June 12th, 2011. As main topic changes of the bylaws will be discussed in order to manage the future of ESJV.

Once more I strongly encourage all ESJV members to support and to continue their important work necessary to ensure the future success of jet ventilation. The board is open to all ideas, and suggestions for future  development are welcome. You are invited to actively form our society to our vision and mission, improve the knowledge and further develop jet ventilation.
